How long will it take to make my tiles?
This will depend on the type of tiles you are ordering and our work schedule. The current (1 May 2008) lead time for tiles, from order to delivery, is approximately five weeks although we may be able to 'fit in' a small order in a shorter period. Please note also that our Studio will be closed for approximately three weeks during June 2008 for 'annual holidays' and for some works to improve the facilities. This is likely to lead to a temporary increase in lead times so if you are considering some tiles by all means give us a call even if your project is at the planning stage - we are happy to make a provisional booking in our work schedule which you can confirm nearer the time. How do I order my tiles?
Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements either by telephone or email. Click here for contact details. Once everything is agreed we will send you written confirmation of your order.

How can I pay for my tiles?
By cheque or we accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards either in person or by telephone. If you are paying by cheque we will require a deposit of 50% of the cost to be paid once the design or
project is agreed and the balance when the tiles are completed. If paying by credit card we will require details of your card and your agreement to charge the card account but we will not charge your account until the tiles are dispatched or collected.

What about delivery?
We will arrange for your tiles to be delivered by carrier which is charged at cost. Alternatively you can of course arrange to collect the tiles.

I live outside the UK - can you supply tiles?
Yes if you live in Western Europe but we would need to confirm delivery costs with you and you would be responsible for any duty or taxes payable in your country. We do not currently supply tiles to the U.S.

How many tiles in a square metre
The normal calculation is to allow for a 2mm grout space between tiles and on this basis there are
98 four inch tiles
62 five inch tiles
44 six inch tiles
Back to questions
Is there a minimum order?
Yes. Because of the time needed to prepare glazes and set up firing in the kiln we make a minimum charge of £50.
Back to questions
Do you charge for initial discussions?
No. We provide a bespoke service and understand the importance of discussing your ideas and making sure that together we get your project right.
Back to questions
Do you charge for sample tiles?
It depends on the circumstances. If we have a suitable sample already available or can produce one easily we are happy to send it free of charge. If, however, it is necessary to spend significant time making the samples then we may need to make a charge to cover the costs. We will discuss this with you beforehand and the costs of any samples will be deducted from the overall cost of your order.

Do you have a showroom we can visit?
Unfortunately we do not have a showroom for visitors. All our work is carried out in our studio workshop here in Sussex and the place tends to be fairly hectic with work in progress and very hot kilns so we prefer not to receive visitors unless it is for collection of tiles.
Back to questions
Can you match an existing tile?
Generally speaking, no. It is very difficult to get an exact match because the appearance of a tile depends on many factors - the clay, glazes, method of firing and, of course, its age. The time and effort required to experiment on achieving a match makes the cost prohibitive without any guarantee of success. In these circumstances it may be better to use a different colour/design that in some way complements or contrasts with the existing tiles or even replace all the tiles in a way that keeps to the original theme.
Back to questions
Can you fit my tiles?
We supply tiles throughout the UK and overseas and so cannot provide a local fitting service. Although our tiles certainly look special they should not present any special requirements on fitting.
Back to questions
Do you supply floor tiles?
We specialise in bespoke decorated tiles and therefore do not normally supply plain floor tiles. We do however make decorative tiles to be incorporated into a tiled floor.
Back to questions
Can the tiles be used for worktops?
No because of the nature and detail of the decoration we do not recommend our tiles are used for worktops where they are likely to be subject to abrasive cleaners.
