How long will it take to make my tiles?
All our tiles are 'made to order' so the lead time will depend on the nature and size of your order and our work schedule. We will always confirm the estimated delivery date when you place an order or make an enquiry. Please contact us for up to date guidance on the current position.

How do I order my tiles?
You can order your tiles by email, by telephone or by post. If you are planning to order some bespoke design tiles we are happy to discuss your requirements at any time. For more details see our Order page. Once everything is agreed we will send you written confirmation of your order.

I love the tiles in your tile collections but I want something a bit different
Because we hand paint all the design tiles you can order bespoke tiles based on a design or theme of your choosing. Delft is a very versatile style and we have produced very many individual designs for clients. Please let us know what you have in mind and we will be delighted to help. Find out more about our Bespoke Design Service.

How can I pay for my tiles?
Once your tiles are ready we will contact you to agree a delivery date (we will need somebody to be available at the delivery address to receive the tiles) and ask for payment either by bank transfer or credit/debit card.
Back to questions

What about delivery?
We will arrange for your tiles to be delivered by carrier which is charged at cost.
Back to questions

Do you supply plain tiles?
No. Traditionally delft tiles are used to create a highly decorative effect. Where a less intense decoration is sought we recommend mixing design (or picture tiles) with 'corners only' tiles - often in a ratio of six 'corners only' tiles to each design tile. 'Corners only' tiles have the same corner motif as design tiles. The use of 'corners only' tiles in this way maintains the delft style.
Back to questions

I live outside the UK - can you supply tiles?
Because of issues relating to carriage and insurance we do not currently supply tiles outside the UK.
Back to questions

What are the dimensions of your delft tiles?
The tiles are 13 cm square (which is the traditional size for delft tiles) and 10 mm thick. Because the tiles are traditionally made they are subject to minor variations in their dimensions.
Back to questions

How many tiles in a square metre?
The normal calculation is to allow for a 2mm grout space between tiles and on this basis there are 59 tiles per metre.
Back to questions

Is there a minimum order?
Yes. Because of the time needed to prepare glazes and set up firing in the kiln we make a minimum charge of £100.
Back to questions

Do you charge for initial discussions?
No. We provide a personal bespoke service and understand the importance of discussing your ideas and making sure that together we get your project right.
Back to questions

Can I see a sample tile?
Yes - indeed we encourage you to order a sample tile if at all possible because there is no substitute for seeing and touching the real thing. Find out more here Ordering a Sample Tile
Back to questions

Can I return tiles?
We really hope you will be delighted with your tiles but if for some reason you need to return them you can do so provided they are from our Collections and not bespoke designs made specifically for you. Please contact us to make arrangements for return.
Back to questions

Do you have a showroom we can visit?
Unfortunately we do not have a showroom for visitors. All our work is carried out in our studio workshop here in Sussex and the place tends to be fairly hectic with work in progress and very hot kilns so we regret we are unable to receive visitors.
Back to questions

Can you match an existing tile?
Generally speaking, no. It is very difficult to get an exact match because the appearance of a tile depends on many factors - the clay, glazes, method of firing and, of course, it's age. The time and effort required to experiment on achieving a match makes the cost prohibitive without any guarantee of success. In these circumstances it may be better to use a different colour/design that in some way complements or contrasts with the existing tiles or even replace all the tiles in a way that keeps to the original theme. We have been involved in many restoration and renovation projects so by all means get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Back to questions

Can you fit my tiles?
No. We supply tiles throughout the UK and so cannot provide a local fitting service. Although our tiles certainly look special they should not present any special requirements on fitting.
Back to questions

Do you supply floor tiles?
No. We specialise in hand decorated wall tiles which are not generally suitable for use on floors.
Back to questions

Can the tiles be used for worktops?
No. Because of the nature and detail of the decoration we do not recommend our tiles are used for worktops where they are likely to be subject to abrasive cleaners.
